This season sees a juxtaposition of feminine and chunky styles for women's shoes. Ankle boots are still the must-haves, while lace-ups, or boots incorporating fur on animal prints, are also on-trend. There is a playful application of mix and match colours, and materials which create unusual layering effects. Freda Lee, head of marketing communications at Fairton International Group, which stocks Fratelli Rossetti and Lloyd, says to go for shades such as brown and black, and suede, calfskin and nappa materials. She says Fratelli Rossetti has interpreted low and ankle boots to rise or fall according to the temperature, look and occasion, with soft ankle boots in suede featuring a playful detachable beaver fur trim. The mix of materials includes nubuck combined with suede, washed-out waxed cotton and beaver, antique-finish calfskin, while the effects are vintage, waxed and brushed. Colours vary from natural hues such as stone, olive, blue, red, burgundy, celadon and a gentle pink. The brand has relaunched its 1970s classic - magenta patented boots. Made of 'lady antique' leather, with an ageing treatment applied by hand, these boots feature thin straps and a metal buckle. Calvin Klein's shoes come in rich leathers from the palest dove grey to charcoal and coal. For women, the high-heel boot with ankle strap detail, the new pump and petal sandal, all have curved toes and sculptural heels. Renowned for their casual wear, Replay's shoe trends reflect their clothing. Chunky leather biker-style shoes with hammered studs hark back to the 1980s with hints of chains and buckles. Clog ankle boots with studs and buckles are also prominent. Zadig and Voltaire feature biker boots with detachable straps, while more feminine looks include ballet pumps in lambskin set with small jewelled wings, or black court shoes.
