Sabatini Ristorante Italiano at the Royal Garden hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui is featuring porcini mushrooms until Monday. The seasonal mushrooms are made into dishes of raw Hokkaido scallop with porcini and black truffle on grilled zucchini salad; porcini soup with soft poached egg and black truffle; tagliata-style Iberian pork chop with black truffle mashed potatoes and porcini sauce; and porcini-dusted sea bass with grilled fresh porcini and broccolini and lobster emulsion. Also serving porcini is Goccia restaurant in Central. Available until the end of the month, the mushrooms are used in dishes of carpaccio of porcini with shrimp tartare and crisp pancetta; and homemade, sun-dried porcini tagliatelle with rich tomato sauce and ricotta cheese; and risotto of Borgotaro porcini and pumpkin with aromatic thyme butter. The French Window in Central is featuring a six-course food and Krug champagne pairing available until October 10. The meal includes mackerel tart with marinated tomatoes and eggplant caviar with the Krug Grand Cuvee; while the Krug 1998 is paired with the pan-seared golden tilefish fillet in scales with cauliflower risotto, and the foie gras sandwich with fresh figs (right). Brian Bicknell from Mahi Winery in Marlborough, New Zealand, will host a dinner on October 7 at Megan's Kitchen in Wan Chai. The dinner includes deep-fried abalone with taro paste paired with the Mahi Pinot Noir 2007; boneless chicken wings with chestnut stuffing with the Mahi Pinot Noir 2008; and US short ribs in truffle sauce with steamed rice-flour rolls with the Mahi Pinot Noir Rive 2008. Domani restaurant in Admiralty will host 30 Italian wine producers at a two-day event on October 7 and 8. Representatives from wineries such as Tenuta San Georgio, Balan, Toser and Brunelli will be on hand to discuss their wines. The event kicks off with a six-course dinner on October 7, with dishes such as deep-fried mozzarella with walnut bread and sardines; grain-fed Australian beef; and Chilean cod in seafood broth. The dinner is HK$980 plus 10 per cent. The next day is an all-day wine tasting and a four-course set lunch that includes linguine with seafood, mushrooms, rocket salad and cherry tomatoes and apple tart with pistachios and caramel sauce.
