Fung shui plays a major role in the lives of most Chinese people. Some consult a master before buying a home to ensure that the fung shui of the house brings them good luck.
In Hong Kong, there are a number of housing estates which are famous for their excellent fung shui. One of them is The Somerset in Repulse Bay.
Maria Cheung, associate director of Landscope, says celebrities have purchased apartments at The Somerset because of its good fung shui. It is also located near the yacht club, shops and beaches.
A middle-floor duplex in the housing estate is on sale. The 2.464 sqft unit has an asking price of HK$70 million, rounding up to about HK$28,400 per square foot.
There are three bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms. The master bedroom and another bedroom are located on the second floor, while the third bedroom is on the bottom level. High ceilings give a spacious feel.
An 80 sqft balcony offers views of the sea, mountain and greenery. Two covered parking spaces are included, while residents can make use of gym facilities, such as the swimming pool. The Somerset was completed in 1982 and includes one 26-storey building comprising duplexes. There are three units on each floor, except for the first and penthouse levels. There has been only one sale in the estate this year.
