THE season may be drawing to a close but the Ivan Allan winner-finding machine chugs on much the same as ever.
Allan, sitting astride the trainer standings with a magnificent 51 winners, looks to have bright prospects with the lightly raced private purchase griffin from last season Kaapargen in tomorrow night's second event at Happy Valley.
The son of Kaapstad is not without his problems which is why he didn't race at all last season and didn't make his debut until a fortnight ago when a strong-finishing third to Action Time over to-night's 1,235-metre trip.
But he is not without ability either as his subsequent work has shown.
Yesterday he went better than he has ever gone when working from the barriers at the top of the back straight under tomorrow night's jockey, Basil Marcus.
Kaapargen was always just holding his Class Three-rated stablemate, Active Luck, who has yet to race but has been shaping well enough in his preparations.
