According to the United Nations, nearly 70 million children are not getting an education. That is higher than the number of primary pupils in the United State and Europe. I think this shows the wide gap between the rich and the poor.
American academic John Dewey said 'education is not preparation for life. Education is life itself'.
Education plays an important role in our lives. But because of the lack of money and resources for education in developing countries, children cannot go to school to change their lives. As a result, the rich get richer, the poor become poorer.
We in Hong Kong are blessed with nine years of compulsory education. We are very lucky.
There are many ways to help poor children. We can organise activities to raise funds for them. We can also recycle used stationery and send to them.
