The autumn edition of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council's (HKTDC) Electronics Fair and electronicAsia 2010 begin today, featuring more than 3,500 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions.

The fair, which runs until Saturday, plays a crucial role in promoting Hong Kong's electronics industry, as it is the largest export earner, accounting for more than 50 per cent of the city's total exports of more than HK$224 billion last year.

Staged at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, the three-day event will feature a host of top brands, innovations, environmentally friendly products and discussions on the latest in technological trends in the industry.

The exhibition will be held at the same time and place as electronicAsia, which will showcase mostly solar photovoltaic and display technologies.

'Now in the 30th edition, the Electronics Fair [autumn edition] strives to widen its variety, depth, and breadth of exhibits this year,' says Benjamin Chau, deputy executive director of the HKTDC. 'New elements include the launch of a Green Electronics Square, showcasing products that are driven by environmentally friendly manufacturing processes, designs or functions, plus a line-up of the hottest electronic gadgets, such as androids, tablets, eReaders and solar photovoltaic products, and latest display technologies at electronicAsia.'

Following last year's setup, there will be several zones to make it easier for buyers to find what they are looking for.
