Excitement is building over LKF Tower's newest occupant. Set to open next month, Gold is sure to become a prime destination for power lunches, and drinks and dinner for the hip crowd. Nestled in the space previously occupied by FINDS, Gold features a large, curving bar decorated with glowing amber glass, an elegant dining room in rich browns and warm oranges, and an eye-catching gold ceiling. The terrace, where diners can enjoy a variety of Spanish tapas dishes and vintage cigars, features a flowing water wall. The glamorous decor is complemented with a menu of the unpretentious, full-flavoured dishes that have made chef Harlan Goldstein one of Hong Kong's favourites. The parma ham flat bread (HK$138, left) - basically a pizza, but better - would make an ideal snack to accompany drinks. Its thin, crunchy base snapped under the slightest pressure and was sprinkled with fresh tomatoes, peppery rocket and layers of salty ham. The truffle pappardelle, porcini mushrooms (HK$228, right) was aromatic and delicious, the truffles giving off a rich, earthy scent, while the mushrooms and thick pumpkin-coloured ribbons of pasta added different textures to the dish. The 'melt-in-your-mouth' Scottish salmon with Greek salad and dill honey yogurt (HK$198, above) was like summer being served on a plate - light, fresh and healthy - and the Hokkaido sea scallop carpaccio, slow-cooked egg and white truffle dressing (HK$178) was an enjoyable mix of delicate flavours. The extensive wine list caters to all budgets and tastes with its 250 labels priced from the low hundreds to the hundreds of thousands.
