Morton's
Morton's Steakhouse has been a favourite of steak lovers in Hong Kong for many years. The Chicago-based chain has a variety of aged (at least three weeks) prime steak cuts on offer, including New York strip, porterhouse, filet mignon, tenderloin, ribeye prime rib roast and bone-in ribeye. Morton's beef comes from the United States and Australia. Its famous whopper double porterhouse steak (HK$1,190) weighs almost 1.3 kilograms and is good for two adults. And, as everyone knows, Morton's dishes are American servings.
Morton's has a range of seafood, from starters to entrees. It recently added new seafood, bar bites and dessert items to its restaurants in Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore. New to the dinner menu are Chilean sea bass with pineapple and pepper salsa (HK$375), onion rings with Thai cream sauce (HK$95), steak fries (HK$80) and sundae (HK$150).
We ordered the New York strip (HK$630) and prime ribeye steak (HK$630, left). The steaks were juicy, tender and perfectly cooked to slightly pinkish on the inside. The New York strip had no fat at all, but the ribeye had fringes of fat. Both were full of flavour. We had our steaks with sauteed fresh spinach and button mushrooms (HK$75), which is good for two, and hash brown potatoes (HK$90), also sufficient for two.
We rounded off our meal with Morton's legendary sundae, which is made from hot chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, warm caramel sauce and whipped cream. The average cost of dinner for two, including drinks, is HK$1,800 to HK$2,500.
