It's easy to forget where meat comes from when it is neatly packed on supermarket shelves. Cut into manageable blocks, it has become just another consumable that we enjoy often without thought. In this edition of Good Eating, we've got our hands a little dirty, slapped the steak on the grill, and indulged our passion for red meat in all its varied glory. We've taken the attitude that, 'if you are going to eat meat, choose wisely, relish it, respect it and say a word of thanks to nature's bounty'.

We round up some of the best steaks in town, and have hunted out where to find everything from venison to horse, pigeon to kangaroo. Master of wine Debra Meiburg tells the story of the rise of Argentina's malbec, a grape that makes an ideal accompaniment to meat dishes, while Michael Taylor provides the ultimate guide to dining in the Pearl River Delta, whether it's Chinese-style sushi or yak burger you're after. Vegetarians should not feel entirely neglected - the top 10 new venues in town cater for all persuasions.

On a more personal note, this will be my last Good Eating. I pass the reins to seasoned food writer Bernice Chan. Here's to endings and new beginnings - two things best celebrated over good food and wine.

Bon appetit!
