CCC Kwei Wah Shan College basketball team are seen as the best among all the schools on Hong Kong Island and they have their eyes set on winning all the major inter-school competitions.
The team made it to the boys' final of the Hong Kong Inter-School Basketball Marathon in July. But they failed to claim the title after their opponents Beacon College (Yuen Long) hit a 'golden shot' to edge them out.
On top of being the Marathon runners-up, the team also reached the semi-finals of the Panasonic Cup Schools' Basketball Championship 2010.
Kwei Wah Shan had not been a strong team until a few years ago, when the school invited former Hong Kong squad member Yung Kam-wah to be their coach. His demanding and disciplined training has turned Kwei Wah Shan into a basketball powerhouse.
Wong Wai-ming, a Form Seven student and captain of the team, said they changed their playing style after losing two major players.
'Last year we were a perimeter-oriented team which focused more on outside shooting. This year we switched to playing inside-out by getting the ball to our post players and letting them initiate the offence,' he said.
