A SECURITY guard supervisor who raped a domestic helper after threatening to kill her was sentenced to four years' jail in the High Court yesterday.

In sentencing, Mr Justice Wong said the case was not one where the defendant had succumbed temporarily and suddenly to temptation.

He said Mohammad Tariq, 20, had planned it deliberately and had taken advantage of a woman who had come to live and work far from home.

He said that although he had taken Tariq's clear record and relative youth into account, the offence was so serious that a jail term of some length was inevitable.

Tariq had denied raping the 26-year-old woman. He was convicted on March 31 after trial by jury.

The court had heard evidence that Tariq had been employed as a supervisor of security guards at Kingswood Villas, Tin Tsui Wai, a partly completed residential development.

He and the victim had been out a few times, but had lost touch since she had changed jobs.
