AS part of a rejuvenation drive, the Bank of China (BOC) has announced the appointment of Yang Zhilin, 49, as chief executive of its Hong Kong-Macau regional office. BOC chairman Wang Qiren said Mr Yang would take over from Huang Diyan, 63, on June 1. Mr Huang, who is resigning from the post, will continue to work in the territory as vice-chairman of the board of directors and as adviser to the bank's Hong Kong-Macau regional office. Mr Yang has worked as assistant to the bank's governor since August 1992, and became a board member in 1992. In December, he became managing director. He joined BOC in 1972 and was formerly its general manager in Tokyo.
