Hong Kong got the perfect wake-up call before their campaign to win a gold medal at the Asian Games this month when they let slip a 17-0 lead to lose 24-17 to Australian outfit Palmaya at the Singapore Cricket Club Sevens yesterday. 'We got sloppy and a little arrogant. It is just the kick up the backside we needed before the Asian Games,' an unimpressed Hong Kong head coach Dai Rees said. Hong Kong had earlier defeated a Bahraini-based Flying Kukris select 38-0. In their final pool game, Hong Kong lost 31-0 to Fijian top seeds Davetelavu. Rees is set to announce his 12-man squad for the Asian Games tomorrow and is using this tournament to finalise his choices for the team.
