Constable accused of forgery

A senior police constable appeared in Eastern Court yesterday accused of forging a witness statement and misconduct in public office. Detective Lam Chi-yung, 42, is to enter pleas at the District Court on November 30. On February 2 this year, Lam allegedly forged a statement given by Li Chi-keung and induced police inspector Ma Chi-chung to accept it as genuine. He is also charged with falsifying records in his police notebook and persuading Chiu Hiu-kwan, a suspect in a theft case, to plead guilty to reduce his own workload.
