Anthony's Ranch 28 Yi Chun Street Sai Kung New Territories Tel 2791 6113
Grub: Tex-Mex, including burgers, steaks, ribs, chilli and nachos.
Vibe: Good ole southern hospitality: staff welcome you with a smile and furnish you with a bucket of peanuts the moment you sit down. A wagon wheel, hanging from the ceiling, has been converted into a light fitting, while on one wall there is a giant photo of a cowboy boot, surrounded by dozens of vintage black and white photos of native Americans. Background music - with a definite country twang - is loud, but not enough to kill conversation.
Who to bring: The hiking party.
What's hot: Walking in the hills above Sai Kung can help to work up an appetite, which is useful since Anthony's Ranch portions tend to be rather generous.
If you're a small group, you might get by on just a selection of starters. There are Louisiana crab cakes, Buffalo chicken wings, chilli and ribs - it's not really vegetarian friendly. There are also the ever-popular nacho chips, and potato skins covered in melted cheese with chunky bits of bacon and served with sour cream, which are very good.
There is a veggie burger on the menu, but apart from that and a couple of fish dishes, all the main course choices contain meat.
