Ring in the new year cabaret style with the ever-glamorous Courtney Act - drag queen entertainer and pop personality. The Australian gender-bending singer will headline a deluxe dinner and show at the open-air Sevva, located high up in Prince's Building.
The blonde glamazon will showcase her new single, Welcome to Disgraceland, an electro-pop song inspired by her live nightclub performances, which are renowned for their flamboyant costumes, saucy dancers and of course, typhoon-strength wind machines.
Courtney Act - a pun on the phrase 'caught in the act' - is the alter ego of Shane Janek, who created her in 2000 and hit the spotlight in 2003 when she came third in Australian Idol. In fact, Janek had auditioned as himself the day before and failed to get through the selection process. He returned as Courtney Act, who wowed the judges and the Australian public (many of whom were clueless about her gender) to get through to the semi-finals.
She was then signed to the BMG label, which has since released a number of her pop-tastic singles. Notably, she recently performed at a private birthday party for Lady Gaga - complete with a lap dance - and in 2007 was voted by FHM magazine readers as one of the world's 100 sexiest women.
