Unwelcome wake-up call
I WONDER if any of the residents living near the new Hong Kong Stadium have ever lived in Yau Yat Chuen - particularly since a new ruling several months ago when the powers that be decreed that virtually all aircraft must approach Kai Tak over Kowloon City? If so, they would understand the real meaning of noise pollution.
Seven days a week, residents in that area are disturbed by flights taking off and landing, providing an unwelcome early wake-up call and preventing any serious sleep before 11.30 at night.
Walls tremble and car alarms are activated regularly.
It seems odd that there is so much fuss over the odd pop concert when authorities pay so little attention to the ongoing problems associated with disturbances from noisy flights over densely populated residential areas.
