Olympic champion Lin Dan remains coy on whether he will contest this week's Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open Super Series after his withdrawal from last week's China Open due to injury.

'Super Dan' arrived yesterday with a group of 20 players from the mainland, but the hottest player in the world made no commitment to playing in the HK$1.95 million tournament, starting at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai today.

'The fans are very supportive here, but the Hong Kong Open is just one of the Super Series tournaments,' Lin said. 'I want to play well here but if I find my form is not good enough, [because of a muscle injury], I will not force myself.

'I have had a hectic schedule since the Asian Games in Guangzhou, with two Super Series tournaments. The muscles are a bit tense and I need time to adjust my form.'

The world No 7 clinched the Asian Games title two weeks ago, defeating Malaysia's world No 1, Lee Chong Wei, in three sets. But the mainlander withdrew from last week's China Open in Shanghai after reaching the last eight, handing a semi-final berth to teammate Chen Long, who went on to take the title.

Lin may need a victory in Hong Kong, the last of the 12 Super Series tournaments, if he wants to make it into the series finals in Taiwan next month.

'I want to go [to Taiwan] if I have the chance, but I don't know if I have enough ranking points,' he said.
