Yuen Long Lutheran Secondary School
On November 19 and 20,  more than 130 prefects and teachers  from Yuen Long Lutheran Secondary School took part in a training camp at the Tso Kung Tam Outdoor Recreation Centre.
This camp was aimed at enhancing the unity and the sense of belonging of the prefects  through a  variety of games.  
A game called 'Chasing in the Dark' was the highlight of the camp. The prefects were divided into six groups and they  had to run around the campsite to find all the checkpoints and complete some challenging tasks.  
 After playing all the games, Group 5 emerged as the winners. Group 1 were first runners-up and Group 2 were the second runners-up. 
The camp was a huge success. It helped the prefects develop the spirit of co-operation and team skills.

Po Leung Kuk 1983 Board  of Directors' College
On November 6, our school hosted a special event as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. We invited students from primary schools in our district to compete against each other in a quiz tournament - PLK Castar Primary School, PLK Chan Yat Primary School and SKH Tsing Yi Chu Yan Primary School. 
It was a fun, challenging morning for the pupils as they answered questions in three languages. All three schools' scores were quite close through the first and second rounds conducted in Putonghua and English respectively. 
The final round was a Cantonese lightning round and the competition became quite fierce. One school managed to keep ahead of the  game by providing enough correct answers to win.
 PLK Castar Primary School won. First runner-up was SKH Tsing Yi Chu Yan Primary and PLK Chan Yat Primary School was second  runner-up.
This was the second time our school hosted such an event - the last time being our 20th anniversary celebrations - and we are once again very pleased with the smooth, successful running of the day. 
We hope that everyone learned something new from the quiz questions and had fun at the same time. We will undoubtedly be hosting similar primary school invitational events in the future.

Caritas Ma On Shan Secondary School
On November 3, Form Three students from Caritas Ma On Shan Secondary School visited Cathay City, the training centre for Cathay Pacific airline crew.
 Students watched from a glass-sided walkway as a Boeing 777 simulator rocked and tilted with a trainee pilot inside. Although we could not go inside the simulator, a large photograph showed us what the inside looked like. We saw the instrument panel and aircraft controls through the eyes of a pilot as the aircraft approached an airport runway.
The training area for ground staff was fascinating. It is a mock-up of a check-in area  complete with conveyor belts, destination stickers and boarding passes. 
Next, we visited the cabin crew training area. This is a walk-in model of a plane with rows of seats in Economy, Business and First Class cabins. CMS students enjoyed the comfort of the First Class section, working out how to stow tray tables and video equipment. They also explored the small galley in which the crew prepare food. 
The visit ended with our tour guide, ground staff member Peggy Wong, answering questions. 
The trip was organised by the English Department to complement the Form Three topic of 'Travel'.
