HK's Ng retains world amateur title

Asian Games team gold medallist Ng On-yee successfully defended her women's six-ball world amateur snooker title when she defeated Jaique Ip Wan-in 5-0 in an all-Hong Kong final in Damascus, Syria, last night. Both players were members of the Hong Kong team who won gold at last month's Asian Games. Ng, 20, who also won bronze in the singles event in Guangzhou, became the second player after Reanne Evans of England to clinch the world amateur title two times in a row. Ip finished runner-up at the world event for the second time in six appearances, after losing in the final in 2006.
