Forget Macau's glitzy casinos. The new Vida Rica Restaurant and Bar at the Mandarin Oriental Macau has staked its position along the breathtaking Macau waterfront.

With its natural stone interior, the 108-seat Vida Rica offers Chinese, Japanese and Western fare, prepared by chef Dirk Haltenhof. It is open from 6.30am to midnight, with a buffet breakfast from 6.30am to 11am, lunch from noon to 3pm, and dinner from 6pm to 11pm. Dress code is smart casual.

Vida Rica boasts a main dining area, four semi-private rooms for parties of up to 12 people, a chef's table for fully private gatherings, and a bar divided into three sections offering varying tempos.

The main bar area - in marble, chrome and crystal - has lounge-type seating, with floor-to-ceiling windows boasting panoramic views of the South China Sea and Nam Van Lake. The three bar-counters include a cocktail bar, offering an extensive drinks list featuring local Macau concoctions. The Champagne and tapas bar boasts the finest vintages or a by-the-glass selection.

The bars have a casual dress code and are open from 5pm to midnight on weekdays, and up to 1am on Fridays. They open at noon at weekends and close at 1am on Saturdays and midnight on Sundays. Vida Rica is a short walk from the MGM Grand Macau, Wynn Macau and Grand Lisboa hotel and casino hubs, and a quick cab ride to the convention and cultural centre, the art museum, the airport and the Cotai Strip.
