HONG KONG companies have made major inroads to China's growing telecom industry, along with Asian infrastructure projects in general, and many are now offering good value investment opportunities, says Jardine Fleming (JF).

China's growing telecom network offers a long-term, low-risk means of exposure to mainland economic reform and growth.

Companies like Champion Technology, Star Paging, S Megga International and ABC Communications are highlighted by the brokerage as strategic investments in this sector.

''While we think an imminent relaxation of restrictions on foreign involvement is unlikely, there are still numerous ways for foreign firms to participate,'' said the broker.

In Asia and China especially, the growth in power generation infrastructure is also a significant investment story.

Hong Kong utilities such as China Light and Power, Hongkong Electric, Consolidated Electric Power Asia and Wing Shan offer interesting long-term investment prospects, says JF.
