Singer brings a fresh new face to on- and off-camera career tracks
For any up-and-coming performer, building a great image is everything. Fortunately for petite and fresh-faced Mag Lam, she not only has a voice to rival American Idol Kelly Clarkson, but a 1,000-watt smile to go with it.
The 20-year-old shot into the spotlight earlier this year after impressing the judges at TVB's The Voice 2 competition with a heartfelt rendition of Clarkson's A Moment Like This, and winning the most popular vote from audiences.
Lam is now turning on her charm for her first starring role, in a local commercial for Japanese skincare brand Shu Uemura. The clip 'premiered' exclusively to beauty and fashion editors at Shu Uemura's spring/summer product launch at The Space gallery in Hollywood Road on Friday.
Lam was also on hand to flash her signature smile and extol the virtues of the brand's new oil-in-gel face cleanser for active young women.
'It's been a whirlwind year,' the newly minted Shu Uemura spokeswoman says about her off-camera pursuits. 'Besides the growing number of performances or appearances I'm making, I'm still on track to get my diploma in service and business administration; I've had to sacrifice my leisure time, sometimes sleep as well.'
Before her life-changing turn on The Voice 2, Lam says, she had had her heart set on becoming a flight attendant and seeing the world.
