DENG Ken, the younger brother of China's paramount leader Deng Xiaoping, arrived in the territory yesterday on a private visit lasting several days. Mr Deng, 83, accompanied by his wife, Ding Hua, appeared to be in excellent health. He was invited by Jenson Cheng Chao-ming and Professor Yu Zhian of the Changjiang Power Development Group and chairman of the Paliburg Group Lo Yuk-sui. Mr Deng's itinerary was not disclosed, but according to his hosts, the visit was aimed at sightseeing. Mr Deng, a former vice-governor of Hubei province, will later travel to Shenzhen and Hubei. The younger Mr Deng said he did not see the 89-year-old leader very often, but had heard that his health was sound.
