THE European Union office in Hong Kong celebrates European Union Day for the first time.

Historically, May 9, 1950, marked the day when the then-French foreign minister Robert Schuman proposed a blueprint for welding the heavy industries of France and Germany.

Since then, the idea of working together has enabled members of the community to restore their economies and enjoy peace on the continent.
