Hong Kong box office takings soared 30.7 per cent to about HK$1.54 billion in 2010 from a year earlier, the Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association said yesterday. Of the 286 films screened last year, only 54, or about 19 per cent, were local productions. The highest grossing Hong Kong film for 2010 was Ip Man 2, with box office takings of HK$43.31 million, while the top grossing foreign film was Toy Story 3, which had sales of HK$89.36 million.
