Maid jailed for assaulting 4-month-old

A Filipino domestic helper who jammed a towel into a four-month-old's mouth and shook him was jailed yesterday for four months. Gina Marisse Abellanes Asto, 38, was convicted at Kowloon City Court of wilful assault causing injury to a child. Asto's acts were caught on a video camera installed by the baby's mother. Magistrate Timothy Casewell rejected Asto's claims that she put the towel into the boy's mouth to absorb milk and prevent him from choking.
