World Universities Forum in HK
The annual World Universities Forum will be hosted by Hong Kong for the first time from today until Sunday at the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd). The forum will focus on 'Asia Rising and the Changing Architecture of Global Higher Education'. Speakers include HKIEd president Anthony B. L. Cheung, Dr S. Gopinathan of Nanyang Technological University, Dr Shi Jinghuan of Tsinghua University and William G. Tierney of the University of Southern California. The Polytechnic University and the British Council will jointly host a free lecture, 'Technologies for Sustainable Transport', on January 20. Professor Julia King, vice-chancellor of Aston University in Birmingham, will speak on ways to improve personal mobility and meet the global target of a 50 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions.
