The US port of Tacoma has been dropped from the route to shorten transit times and Tokyo has been added to the original Taiwan-Hong Kong route.

Commencing with the arrival of Ever Reward at Los Angeles next week, round-trip times on the route will be ra, Nagoya, Hong Kong and Kaohsiung.

''From Kaohsiung to Los Angeles will be just 11 days and from Portland to Tokyo just 10 days,'' said Richard Huang, president of Evergreen America Corp, the company's US general agent.

''This allows Evergreen to offer the newest tonnage afloat with the highly competitive scheduling, responding to the expressed needs of our customers and the market,'' he said.

The improved times will also impact on Evergreen's Southeast Asia service, which is operated via Kaohsiung.
