Singer Eddie Ng bailed after being charged with intimidating neighbour
Singer-songwriter Eddie Ng Kwok-king landed in court yesterday, accused of intimidating his neighbour.
Ng, 45, did not enter a plea at Kwun Tong Court on a charge of criminal intimidation. He is accused of intimidating Philippe Luk Kam-shing on the staircase of the village house they shared in Tseung Kwan O on December 20.
The prosecution said a knife was found at the scene. If convicted, Ng could face up to five years in jail.
Prosecutor Ada Cheng asked for the case be adjourned for the prosecution to take legal advice on whether the charge was appropriate. She said the prosecution was considering whether possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, which carries a maximum jail term of three years, was more appropriate.
Acting Principal Magistrate Rickie Chan Kam-cheong said the alleged offence took place on the staircase of a private property and questioned why it took so long for the prosecution to seek legal advice.
Barrister Lisa Remedios, for Ng, at first opposed the application for an adjournment and said Ng wanted to enter a plea. But she later agreed that the case be adjourned. Chan adjourned the case to February 21. Ng was released on HK$500 bail.
