The once-dreary parts of upper Hollywood Road are a thing of the past since the revamp of swanky serviced apartment complex Ovolo.
The redefined building and its surrounding area have brought a breath a fresh air to the old neighbourhood, giving it a chic vibe that places it squarely in line with the swanky galleries, wine bars and restaurants of Central nearby.
Toland Sherriff, who helped style the venue, notes that 'the new colour scheme of dark greyish-brown taupes with shots of purple provides interest and contrast to the white walls and black floors'.
Ovolo founder Girish Jhunjhnuwala seems pleased with the outcome. The 650 sqft apartments, he says, are 'a seductive choice for discerning urbanites in this vibrant new commercial and lifestyle hub'.
Each unit is equipped with a 42-inch plasma screen, Apple TV, an iPad/iPod docking station, a DVD home theatre system, Xbox and a Nintendo Wii. Wireless high-speed internet is included.
Ovolo is just a short walk from Western Market, SoHo and the Sheung Wan MTR station. Nearby are art galleries and top restaurants, such as 208 Duecento Otto and Wagyu Kaiseki Den, and residents get complimentary membership at California Fitness Centre in Central.
