Long shares some simple steps to make a paper rabbit just in time for the Lunar New Year

What you need

Colourful origami paper

Glue

Googly eye stickers (can be bought in stationery shops) - optional

Steps:

1 Take a sheet of square origami paper and fold it horizontally. Unfold. Fold the sheet diagonally. Unfold. Fold across the other diagonal. Unfold.

Now squeeze the paper into a pyramid, as shown in photo 1, and push the dashed line in, so that solid line and the dotted line meet either side. You will have a double-layered triangle.

2 Fold the top layer two corners to meet the central corner as shown. Turn over and repeat for the second pair of corners.

3 Now fold the right corner of the top layer to the centre crease. Repeat on the left.

4 Without turning the paper over, lift up the top right layer and fold the bottom right corner to the centre crease. Repeat on the left side.

5 Take the top right flap and insert it into the 'pocket' as shown. Repeat on the left.

6 Turn the paper over, and this time fold the flaps away from the centre and crease. These will form the ears of the rabbit.

7 There will be a small hole at the end of the paper furthest from the ears. Blow into to inflate the bunny. You may need to gently pull it into shape. Stick on or draw eyes above the hole.

8 Make lots of bunnies as gifts or decorations. Kung Hei Fat Choi!
