Ankie is a model of composure in yoga DVD that shows off Hong Kong's tranquil side
With yoga centres going bankrupt left, right and centre, it would seem the yoga bubble has burst in the city. Not so, says model Ankie Beilke, whose self-funded yoga instructional DVD, Express Power Yoga DVD 1, was launched on Thursday at the Kee Club in Central.
But even if the yoga business is slowing, that should not matter to the 30-year-old model. 'Yoga is a hobby, not a job,' she said at the launch, alongside her mother, former actress Ankie Lau Heung-ping. 'I haven't even thought about if these DVDs will make a profit.'
And while she said she would not consider opening her own yoga school, the yoga practitioner of nine years said she was teaching three students privately.
Another thing the DVD is designed to do, according to Lau, is show off the city's serene side - areas that may be unfamiliar to most Hongkongers.
'There are many beautiful areas of Hong Kong, and the yoga video shows off those places,' the model's mother said. The DVD will be released tomorrow and available at all major outlets.
