Annie Au Wing-chi (pictured) became the first player from Hong Kong to reach the semi-final of a 'gold event' after two impressive wins in the Cleveland Racquet Classic in Ohio, United States. The qualifier upset third seed Rachael Grinham of Australia in four games 11-7, 7-11,11-4, 11-5 in the opening round and went on to beat Sarah Kippax of England 3-0 (13-11, 11-9, 12-10) in the next. She will now take on top seed Nicol David of Malaysia for a place in the final of the US$55,000 tournament.
