The outgoing chief of Radio Television Hong Kong says he never considered replacing the hosts of a popular political satire programme.
In the last interview before he leaves the post, Director of Broadcasting Franklin Wong Wah-kay said he had tried to find ways to improve the quality of every programme produced by the government-funded broadcaster.
It was reported last year that Wong had called for the hosts of Headliner - Ng Chi-sum and Tsang Chi-ho - to be replaced because he did not like them being too critical of the government.
'I have never thought of suspending the programme or terminating the hosts' contracts,' Wong said.
But he did say he had suggested the programme producers hire a scriptwriter specialising in satire.
'Every programme has to improve from time to time,' Wong said.
