Ice Fire finally gets it together for Ng
It was more than two years in the making, but Zac Purton was able to weave a passage and some magic to see Ice Fire break through for his maiden win. The Gary Ng Ting-keung-trained five-year-old backed up a solid last-start third on the all-weather (1,650m) by overhauling favourite Bayview Greyslew, who had beaten him home last time. 'He's obviously had his issues, but Gary's got him going well. With a horse like him, winning or just finishing around them as he has done probably comes down to him getting the breaks,' said Purton, who was having his first ride on the gelding. 'He got the runs through the field and closed off well and, if things fall his way like that again, he could win another one.'
