Young Justice (anime)
Lady Justice may have a sword and set of scales to help her mete out out impartial justice, but the adolescent heroes of animated show Young Justice do it with more than that - super powers.
Young Justice, a new DC Comics show on the Cartoon Network, is inspired by the comic book series that ran from 1998 to 2003.
In the comic, the third incarnation of Robin - Tim Drake - Superboy and Impulse - three established teen heroes that teamed up in a previous adventure - form their own group. Soon afterwards they're joined by three heroines: , Secret, Wonder Girl and Arrowette.
The Young Justice show features Superboy, the original Robin aka Dick Grayson, Wally West aka Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Artemis and Aqualad. The series is set in DC's Earth-16, one of the many DC multiverses that allows the show to team up characters from different generations. The most obvious of these is the inclusion of Cadmus' Superboy (a clone based on Superman's DNA), whose appearance in the DC Comics universe did not happen until after Dick Grayson had became Nightwing and Wally West had become The Flash.
The first few episodes of Young Justice show a refreshing attempt to develop deeper characters with more interesting personalities than those superheroes in another animated series, Justice League This step alone makes Young Justice worth watching. So keep your remotes handy flick to Cartoon Network when the show starts in Asia, hopefully soon.
