The Chief Executive in Council yesterday approved government proposals to relax the financial eligibility criteria of applicants for legal aid. The financial eligibility limit for the Ordinary Legal Aid Scheme and the Supplementary Legal Aid Scheme will be raised to HK$260,000 and HK$1.3 million respectively. Applicants will also be allowed to reserve more money for household expenditure. Lawmakers will discuss the proposals next week. 



Legal aid financial eligibility move backed
