Rentals see no rise in January

The average monthly rental for second-hand flats in Hong Kong stood at HK$18.80 per square foot last month, unchanged from December, Centaline Property Agency said. This is the first time residential rents have not shown a month-on-month increase since April 2009. Centaline said rents would rise in view of the better economy and salary increases in future. Average rents of second-hand flats had only to rise 8.5 per to reach the peak of HK$20.40 set in September 1997.
