Samsung's first generation Galaxy tablet is one of the hottest-selling items on the market. It's still not the iPad, though. The smaller, 7-inch (17.78cm) display made it more portable, but it also made it difficult to do a straight comparison with the iPad. That is going to change with the second generation Galaxy Tab - the Tab 10.1. It will have a 10.1-inch display, which is comparable to the iPad's - slightly bigger in fact. Samsung has also decked it with an impressive set of features. The Tab 10.1 will be powered by a dual-core processor running at 1 GHz. It will run Google's Android 3.0 operating system. It will also come equipped with two digital cameras - a 2 megapixel on the front for video calls and an 8 megapixel model on the back, which can record high-definition video at 1080p (or full HD per your TV set). Internet connectivity will come in the form of HSPA+ at 21Mbps, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth. It's probably too early to say how the Tab 10.1 will stand up against the upcoming iPad 2, which is rumoured to have an ultra-clear display - like the one on the iPhone 4. Yet clearly it's a real challenger on the market. The Tab 10.1 is expected to hit stores next month in 16GB and 32GB models. Pricing hasn't been set, but expect it to be competitive to the iPad's. Pros: dual core processor, dual camera, full HD recording and playback, 21Mbps support Cons: it's a whole centimetre thick in some parts
