Fashion-industry veteran Nicole Forissier's eponymous boutique stocks clothes, perfume and accessories sourced largely in France. Before venturing out on her own, Forissier worked in Hong Kong and the mainland for some of the biggest French beauty and fashion brands.
Born in Hong Kong, Forissier attended school in Paris and went on to study at the city's Esmod university of fashion. After returning to Asia, she took up various public relations and management positions for brands such as L'Oreal, Hermes, Celine and Armani, during which time she helped set up flagship stores here and in the mainland. In 2006, she left her corporate career behind and, four years later, opened her boutique.
Forissier says the decision to open her own store came after years of unsatisfactory shopping experiences in Hong Kong. The high and low ends of the market are well covered here, she says, but there aren't many boutique shops selling well-made and affordable clothes.
Forissier admits to missing what Paris offers in terms of fashion, so the brands she stocks are predominately French and range from menswear, womenswear, jewellery and swimwear to perfume and handbags.
Forissier, who makes regular trips to France, says fashion is a personal thing and should express one's personality.
The current selection at Nicole includes womenswear by Sarah Sumfleth, Deby Debo and Manoush; bags by April First; and accessories by Aline Kokinopoulos and Catherine Bonis.
