LEGISLATORS have criticised the lack of a long-term plan to remove unauthorised structures built on rooftops.

Because of limited resources, only illegal structures which posed a danger to the public would be removed, Assistant Director of Buildings Lok Che-leung told the Legco Housing Panel yesterday.

Assistant Director of Housing Yip Kui-wan said people living in illegal structures would be rehoused in public flats or temporary housing depending on how long they had lived in the structures.

Liberal Party legislator Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yee said the Government - which did not stop people from building illegal structures - was not tackling the problem sufficiently.
