Here we go again: yet more teens with superpowers seeking to live normal lives. I Am Number Four is based on the novel of the same name - the first in a planned six-book series. After watching the movie, you only hope the filmmakers will be less ambitious than the book's publishers.

In the film nine teens survive the massive destruction of the planet Lorien. They possess special powers - or 'legacies' - and flee to earth. They are bonded by a mysterious curse, where they can only be killed in a set order. Numbers One to Three are dead. Now it's Four's turn.

Number Four (Alex Pettyfer) lives a nomadic life with guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant). They're always on the move to avoid attracting the attention of the Mogadorian Army.

Once he meets a girl, Sara (Dianna Agron), he decides to stop running and face his enemies. By his side stand Number Six (Teresa Palmer) and Sam (Callan McAuliffe), who believes his dad was abducted by aliens.

Agron is mainly a TV actor who has become famous for his part in the series Glee. She seems awkward in the semi-romantic scenes with love interest Number Four. She looks like she's acting - which is what she indeed does, but poorly. Pettyfer is not much better. He comes off more as a model than a flesh-and-blood superhero.

Add the dull and stiff dialogue, and what you have is a mess of a movie.
