Fresh-faced tailor shares snippets of his passion for the cloth
At the age of 21, Angelo Petrucci was already dressing statesmen, tycoons and megastars. At 39, he's now a veteran tailor, but his youthful looks didn't inspire much confidence when he was starting out.
The chief master tailor and designer for Italian bespoke suit maker Brioni recalled a fitting with then German president Roman Herzog in 1995.
'He came for the fitting, saw me, and said: 'Where's the tailor? You can't be the tailor; you must be the son of the tailor'.'
But the president's remarks didn't unsettle Petrucci (pictured). 'I was so concentrated on my work,' he said.
Petrucci is in town for two days of appointments at the Brioni store in The Landmark starting today.
Among other VIP clients, he has also made suits for Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig for the James Bond films.
