Desert kings
Jean Paul Gaultier's spring-summer line is inspired by the cultures of Turkey and Morocco. Elements from traditional North African men's clothing, such as harem pants, tunics and embroidery, have been incorporated in the collection. The colour palette is predominantly black, with some earthy tones paying homage to the region's desert landscape. Fabrics are natural, with soft leathers, linen and wool voile and cotton poplin. We like the simple loose trousers (far right; HK$7,980), embroidered top (above; HK$9,980) and the sandy double-breasted, cropped jacket (right; HK$6,980). Jean Paul Gaultier is in Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 0374.
Strike it rich
Yves Saint Laurent's latest accessories line is luxuriously classic. Our favourites include the beige desert boot (above right; HK$3,450) and the teal-green wallet (below right; HK$4,750), both made from ostrich leather. We also like the structured Strike canvas shopper bag (centre right; HK$19,950), with chain detail and contrasting leather and canvas panels. Yves Saint Laurent is in Alexandra House, Central, tel: 2868 0092.
Blast from the past
French denim label Chevignon has looked to the past for its spring-summer line, Vintage 57. Styles are retro, with details such as double-layered belt loops and vintage leather emblems, both of which hark back to the early days of denim. Key styles have a muddy look, thanks to a paint and acid splash treatment. Standouts include the slouchy jeans (right; HK$1,280) and simple denim jacket (top; HK$1,380). We also like the paprika T-shirt (above; HK$395). Chevignon is in Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2506 2155.
