1. Four Seasons - Hanggai
I like to wake up with world music from faraway lands. The songs are like poems from the other end of the world and Four Seasons evokes such poetic images from the Mongolian grasslands.
2. Mountain Wind - Mamer
From the album Eagle, it is a rather melancholic song from the Xinjiang troubadour Mamer whose songs and lyrics express the Xinjiang people's love for nature and their homeland. I don't understand the lyrics but I hear his yearning for the lost paradise, whatever the reason.
3. As Tears Go By - Marianne Faithfull
One of the pop tunes that stays as time goes by. I loved it back in the 1960s, probably because of its easy sentimentality. I love her interpretation of this song now with her inimitable voice - it says so much about life.
