Voucher scheme under fire

The money elderly people receive from the health-care voucher scheme is too little despite a government announcement the amount would be doubled from next year, the Medical Association says. Its president, Dr Choi Kin, said the HK$1,000 annual subsidy was not enough to encourage people to switch from public to private health care. Doctors trained overseas should not be exempt from local licensing exams and should know the local system.
