Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin is seeking staff in a range of positions, from entry-level, such as guest services officer for the front office, to team leader for the concierge.

'We exercise care and effort in recruiting the right people with the right attitude for the right job,' says John Morabito, the hotel's director of human resources. 'This will help us enhance our image and ensure we have a motivated and customer-orientated team delivering our brand promise to our [guests].'

The hotel is also looking for assistant managers for its cafe and Chinese restaurant. Reporting to the restaurant managers, they run the outlets in accordance with the hotel's food and beverage standards. Candidates with relevant managerial experience in the hotel or restaurant industry are welcome to apply.

Employees at all levels are expected to demonstrate certain core competencies. Apart from being proactive, adaptable and customer-focused, they should have good interpersonal and communication skills and be team players.

'During the interview, we assess the candidates on whether they have demonstrated those core competencies in past performances, or have the ability to demonstrate [the qualities after they have joined us and received] structured training,' Morabito says.

All new recruits go through a number of training programmes, including orientations at the general and departmental levels, and job-specific skills training. The aim is to enable members of staff to make good decisions that will enhance guests' experience.
