Evoking a timeless spirit of adventure

There is a bag to suit everyone this season, regardless of whether your style is minimalist, vintage or show-stopping colour.

It's been three years since model Kate Moss' association with Longchamp began and the idea for this spring-summer's offering was sparked by a trip to Peru. 'I travelled with [photographer] Mario Testino for the opening of his Portraits exhibition at the Museo de Arte in Lima,' Moss explains.

Her Faraway on the Road collection evokes a timeless spirit of adventure with a combination of rugged quality canvas and fine leather.

'I love canvas,' Moss explains, 'but it is very hard to find really smart canvas bags.' She wanted hers to look casual and chic. The designs come in two-colour combinations of edgy khaki on khaki and elegant ecru canvas with a tan leather trim.

Longchamp's La Postale collection is a new line of men's bags inspired by the pioneering pilots of Aeropostale, the 1920s French postal service. The chic, contemporary design of La Postale, is distinguished by its pared-down lines, prominent flaps and gunmetal-finish hardware. Available in a range of different shapes from satchels through messenger bags to shoppers, it is interpreted in all leather or in an on-trend combination of canvas and calf leather.

LeSportsac has this year teamed up with artist and product designer Jeremyville to produce their 'Inspirations' collection. Jeremyville splits his time between Bondi Beach, Sydney and downtown New York.

There are three themes, each based on his sketches drawn at his neighbourhood cafes and imaginary landscapes made real by his pen.

The first theme, Jeremyville NYC, is based on his drawings of each distinct neighbourhood, and the aerial views he imagines as he walks down the avenues of Manhattan. Bondi Beach Sketchbook is the second theme and is based on the swimming, sand and surf scenes from his neighbourhood in Bondi Beach. The other theme is Tomorrow Forest, an imaginary, surreal world populated with strange furry creatures, bird people and smiling mushrooms. The collection is available in a variety of rucksacks, totes, duffel and messenger bags.

Australian brand Oroton, which opened a store in Hong Kong this season, revisits the company's original roots when it began importing luxurious silks from Japan in 1938. Textures of suede, velvet, Italian silk and glazed, woven and pebble grain leather are incorporated in the Summer Collectables collection of totes, hobos, satchels and clutches.

Oroton's vibrant colour palette features accent hues of dark magenta, grape, petrol, midnight blue and tie-dyed effects. These bold colours are paired with softer shades of silver blue, violet and musk.

Cole Haan has reinterpreted classic styles with its Vintage Valise handbags. The chic leather tote and satchel offer spacious compartments. For an edgier look, opt for the shoulder bag paired with a chain and leather handle. At the centre of all Vintage Valise bags is a signature gold buckle, in amazon (green), beige, black or woodbury (tan).

At Cole Haan men, fashionable luxury meets functionality with the Varick. It is available in diverse selections from roomy and trendy tote or messenger bag styles, to slim wallet and business card cases.

The entire collection is made with a mixture of canvas and brown leather, with convenient compartments for your belongings.

And for couples who have similar tastes, the Cole Haan's unisex Handpainted Collection is designed to offer a diverse range of bags for couples. Hand-stained Italian leathers make every item special.
