Bare-faced chic
The nude look is one make-up trend that shows no signs of going out of style. A healthy, glowing skin tone with flushed cheeks and silky smooth lips, while looking as though you are wearing no make-up at all, is what we all want and it's no wonder the nude look is a perennial favourite.
'The key to creating the perfect nude look is creating the perfect base,' says Nero Lam, beauty service manager at Lane Crawford.
After moisturising the face, Lam uses Laura Mercier Primer, a colourless gel that primes the face and leaves make-up looking fresh and colour-true the entire day. Next she highlights the cheekbones, forehead and tip of the chin with NARS Illuminator. 'This gives the face a sheer finish and a subtle sheen,' she explains. She then applies Laura Mercier's Cream Smooth Foundation all over the face, except under the eyes, brushing it on in a back and forth motion to fill in the pores.
'Don't put foundation under the eyes,' Lam advises. 'Concealer is better for that and, if you use both, it will be too thick.' She advises testing a foundation on your lower jaw and matching it to your neck, which she says is your true skin tone. Bobbi Brown Corrector is applied to cover dark under-eye circles before fixing the foundation with a pressed powder. 'Dab the powder on to the face with a brush to avoid removing foundation and concealer. Choose a powder one shade lighter than your foundation so that the finished look is brighter,' Lam says.
She then brushes through the eyebrows before applying M.A.C. Brow Shader in ivoire/walnut to fill in any gaps. Then Laura Mercier Eye Basics are applied 'to help eye shadow stay put'. For eye shadow, Lam selects NARS Duo in portobello and Chantecaille Lasting Eye Shade in ginger before applying a thin coat of mascara.
